I’m not sure what’s going on in the industry, but we have had a ton of calls and emails asking if beeboo® Big Bubble Mix will work in a bubble machine. The short answer is yes! Check this out.

Because we have had so many calls lately, I spent some time in the lab trying beeboo® Big Bubble Mix at various rates of dilution. Normally, for big bubbles, we recommend a dilution rate of 7:1, seven (7) parts of water for every one (1) part of beeboo®. That works out to be fourteen (14) cups of water plus one bottle of beeboo® Big Bubble Mix. That will make one gallon of big bubble solution. Be sure to use tap water. Distilled water will not work.

As you may know from reading the previous blog, “Bubble Machines – Captain Bubbles™”, I recently purchase two Gazillion Bubble Machines. They advertise 4,000 bubbles per minute on the packaging. I love to count things, but I restrained myself from doing a study, running the numbers, and calculating if the machine actually produces 4,000 bubbles per minute. I’m laughing out loud right now. I showed some restraint! But once again, I digress. Whether or not the Gazillion Bubble Machine actually produces 4,000 bubbles per minute is not the question here. It’s a fine machine and I’ve had a lot of fun with it. The neighbors love it too, as I’ve filled the air with lots of bubbles.

What I did do, is calculate how much bubble solution this hungry little monster called the Gazillion Bubble Machine actually consumes. It’s quite a bit. I filled the machine with 100 mL of bubble solution, and then timed how long it took to run out. It was easy to tell when the bubble solution had been consumed. The bubble machine quit producing bubbles. Duh! Total time to consume 100 mL of bubble solution was exactly five and a half minutes.

I won’t bore you with the arithmetic; I’ll just provide the bottom line answer for you. At a cost of about $2.99 for one 8 fluid ounce bottle of Gazillion Green, the total cost per hour to run the bubble machine is $9.61 per hour, not including tax.

Now here’s the really cool part. In my lab studies I’ve proven the best dilution rate for beeboo®, when used in a bubble machine, is an astounding 15:1! At this dilution rate, one bottle of beeboo® will make almost two (2) gallons of solution. At the retail price of $9.99 per bottle, and the usage rate of 100 mL of solution per five and a half minutes of operation, the end use cost for using beeboo® Big Bubble Mix in the Gazillion Bubble Machine is only $1 per hour! Wow! Not kidding! What a value!

We invented Captain Bubbles™ for a variety of reasons, the main one being, we get so many emails and phone calls from customers who are really discouraged when they buy bottles of bubble solution at mass retailers. Why? They don’t work! Can you believe it? I could hardly believe it myself. So during the summer of 2010, I amassed as many different kinds of bubble solutions as I could. I tried many brands, not all of course. Some work well (very few). Most did not! I must have two dozen brands of bubbles that don’t work. I’m not kidding. some are such poor quality, that you can’t even blow one bubble with the plastic wand. Another brand was such poor engineering, you couldn’t get the plastic wand out of the bottle. The narrow opening was too small. The brands that did work are typically imported, and tend to be quite expensive. Gazillion Green would be one, and Pustefix would be another. They are really, very good products in my opinion.

Evidently, customers have a difficult time in purchasing these products. They are only available on retail shelves during the summer season. Furthermore, even during the season, they can be difficult to find, and once discovered, they tend to be very expensive. If I recall correctly, an 8 ounce bottle of Gazillion Green will retail for approximately $2.99. Pustefix was even more expensive than that.

I even went so far as to purchase the Gazillion Bubbles, bubble machine. I bought two, so I could do side by side comparisons. It’s really a great little bubble machine with an ad that boasts 4,000 bubbles per minute. I didn’t count, but the bubble output was tremendous. I tested Captain Bubbles™ in this machine, and compared the output to the very prestigious Gazillion Green solution. Captain Bubbles™ easily performed as well as Gazillion Green in the bubble machine. The output of bubbles with each formula was equivalent, and both products provided tons of bubbles with absolutely brilliant colors. Both brands created bubbles that lasted a good long while too.
